This Privacy Policy explains how Refyne collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use our Windows application and website.
1. Information We Collect
Clipboard Text
Refyne reads your clipboard only when you trigger a correction with your keyboard shortcut. The selected text is sent directly to the third-party AI provider you choose (Groq or OpenRouter) for processing. We do not store, log, or retain your clipboard content on our servers.
API Keys
Your API keys are saved locally on your device. We do not collect them and we never have access to them. They are only shared with the provider you choose when making a correction.
Analytics
Analytics are enabled by default. We collect strictly anonymous usage data to help us improve Refyne — for example, how often the app is opened or how often corrections succeed. This data never contains any of your personal text, API keys, or personal information. It is tied to a random install ID and cannot identify you. You can easily turn analytics off at any time in the app's Settings.
Local Settings & History
Your preferences (hotkeys, theme, language settings, etc.) and optional correction history are stored only on your local device. You can disable or clear history at any time in Settings.
Website Feedback
If you submit feedback through our website forms, we collect the name, email, and message you provide. We use this only to respond to you and improve our product.
2. Third-Party Services
Refyne works with third-party AI providers to perform corrections:
- Groq — Privacy Policy
- OpenRouter — Privacy Policy
When you correct text, it is sent to the provider you configure. Their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policies.
3. No Account Required
You do not need to create an account to use Refyne. We do not collect your name, email, or any personal identifiers through the app.
4. Data Retention & Security
- All app data stays on your device unless you choose to share feedback through our website.
- Anonymous analytics data cannot be linked back to you.
- Your API keys are encrypted on your device and never transmitted to us.
- Website feedback is kept only as long as needed to respond to your message.
5. Your Rights
Most of your data lives locally on your device. You can delete it at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing history in Settings. If you submit feedback through our website, contact us to request deletion.
6. Children's Privacy
Refyne is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
